Trouble Adding USB Drive to Bazzite (Steam)

I’m trying to add a SATA SSD in a UGREEN USB external enclosure but having difficulties….

No matter what I try, when I go to Storage in Bazzite’s Steam Big Picture mode, I see the drive but it just says I need to format it.
I can format it and it stays the same, asking me to format.

I tried going into the desktop mode, formatting, even mounting the drive to /var/mnt/steamlibrary (create a new directory, and mount it in the Disk util).
But still it just says I need to format the disk before using it when in big picture mode.

Do you want to see your disk temperatures on a Linux host?
Getting the data via SMART:

ls -1 /dev/sd? | xargs -n1 sudo smartctl -A | grep Celsius

[root@NTNX-454c4fde-A ~]# ls -1 /dev/sd? | xargs -n1 sudo smartctl -A | grep Celsius
194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 30
194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 040 058 000 Old_age Always - 40 (0 7 0 0 0)
194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 042 053 000 Old_age Always - 42 (0 7 0 0 0)
194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 040 058 000 Old_age Always - 40 (0 7 0 0 0)
194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 34

What about CPU temperatures?

Backup any data before touching the drives! If it’s a VM, take a snapshot before doing anything!
I can’t be responsible for any data loss - experiment on a throwaway VM first!

Here I go through the steps to expand the data drive of my Nextcloud install from 500GB to 1TB.

Confirm the drive size before any changes using lsblk, zfs list and zpool list

root@nextcloud:/home/ncadmin# lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINTS
sda 8:0 0 60G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 1G 0 part /boot/efi
├─sda2 8:2 0 2G 0 part /boot
└─sda3 8:3 0 56.9G 0 part
└─ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv 252:0 0 56.9G 0 lvm /
sdb 8:16 0 500G 0 disk
└─sdb1 8:17 0 500G 0 part

root@nextcloud:/home/ncadmin# zfs list
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
ncdata 321G 147G 321G /mnt/ncdata

root@nextcloud:/home/ncadmin# zpool list

You can also confirm it all matches in the mount point:

Page in progress

I picked up a BC250 card - it’s basically a PS5 that lost a couple of cores and so had a life destined to be a crypto miner.

It’s actually possible to game on these things!

Have you found that when you click on the Start menu in Windows 10 or 11 and type the name of the application or programme you want to run, but the Start menu window just stays blank?

Easy fix from Microsoft here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=100295

Download the ResetWindowsSearchBox.ps1 and run it and your Start menu will be working just fine again!
